The Perioscopy System is a device that features miniaturized digital video technology, which enables the healthcare professional to see magnified details of the tooth anatomy and deposits below the gum line (i.e. calculus root fractures, restoration margins, tooth decay). A miniature camera is attached to a Fiber and then gently placed below the gum line. The images are immediately displayed on the monitor provided with the Perioscopy System. The Fiber consists of a very slender, flexible shaft containing both imaging and illumination capabilities, which is inserted into a sterilized Sheath and then connects to an Explorer to provide highly magnified (20-40X) images of the affected site.
